Sheldon Cox put up 18 points while Michael Wells scored 16 points for the Red Hurricanes. If these two teams see each other in the WPIAL 4A Boys basketball championship game this season, then we'll see which team shows up then. Quaker Valley improves their section record to 3-0 while New Castle now has a section record of 1-2.
Uniontown defeated section opponent by a score of 81-54. Most people thought this game was going to be close especially since of how well Belle Vernon has been playing lately. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer, Brad Everett, probably expected to see a competitive game, but he didn't. Ray Robinson, Billy DeShields, and Isiah Melvin all scored 17 points for Uniontown. Star football player, Devon Whitlock, scored 11 points for Belle Vernon.
After missing some games due to an ankle injury, Ethan Morton returned tonight for Butler as he scored 22 points and led the Golden Tornados to a 61-50 win. Also, Mattix Clement scored 15 points for Butler as all 15 points were from three-point range. Butler improves their section record to 2-0.

Franklin Regional lost their fourth straight game tonight by losing to Plum by a score of 53-50. The Panthers are now 3-8 on the season. So last season, the Panthers lost in the first round of the PIAA 5A Playoffs to Lower Dauphin by a score of 53-46. After that loss, their season ended and their overall record to end the season was 17-8. They have already matched last season's total losses. The Panthers still have ten more games to play on the season and they might be on the verge of missing the WPIAL playoffs. Franklin had nine seniors on the team last year and they have only three seniors this season. Someone new is going to have to be the leader for this Panthers team. Where is Adam Rudzinski and Nick Leopold when you need to them?
Rodney Gallagher's Laurel Highlands lost to Gateway by a score of 56-53. Even though Gateway's overall record is 4-5, their section record is 2-1 as this win was low-key so nice for Gateway. West Mifflin football player and Pitt recruit, Nahki Johnson, was in attendance for this game.

I really thought Serra Catholic would have a tough time winning games without Jimmy Moon, but they continue to prove me wrong. They defeated California 71-63 as their section record is now 4-0.
