2017 QB Projection Rankings 16-20
20. Phillip Rivers (Los Angeles Chargers)
Phillip Rivers has to be considered one of the healthiest quarterbacks in NFL history. Since 2006 he has started every game for the Los Angeles Chargers. It's also unfortunate that the Los Angeles Chargers are in rebuild mode. His Chargers are considered to be the worst team in the AFC West. It's good that Keenan Allen is coming back this season after only playing one game last year due to injury. No matter what the Chargers record was all these years Rivers has played for the Chargers he always did well statistically and I expect him to do well statistically this year as well. He is projected to be ranked 20th going into this season because he doesn't have a good enough defense to back him up. I'm sorry to tell the Chargers this but if their defense doesn't seem good enough. It's just that I believe the Chargers defense will give up so many points that Rivers and the Chargers offense will be too far behind to catch up. So for all of you saying that Rivers is not good it's cause of the defense not cause of him. Rivers is getting older so he's probably going to play his heart every season from here on out.
19. Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens)
Anyone else think Joe Flacco needs another Super Bowl ring? Joe threw 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last year. This is the time in Joe's career that he needs to be try elite and not throw the same amount of interceptions as touchdowns. If Joe really wants to be considered one of the best before he retires he needs to make more plays and have better relationships with his wide receivers. Maybe not this year but next year I actually expect Baltimore to be one of the best teams in the AFC. That's why he is projected to be ranked 19th going into this season.
18. Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles)
Carson Wentz is going to have such a great year statistically. Even though his Eagles might be the third best team in the NFC East this team can have a winning record. Carson threw for 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last year. The additions of Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith are so awesome for Philadelphia because Carson has two ELITE wide receivers to throw to where last year he had zero elite wide receivers to throw to. Pretty soon Eagles receiver Jordan Matthews can become an elite wide receiver too. Carson Wentz now has weapons to make him a better quarterback and this makes him projected to be ranked 18th going into this season.
17. Alex Smith (Kansas City Chiefs)
Alex Smith has not thrown more than 8 interceptions in the last 6 years in the regular season. He has played 87 games the past 6 years in the regular seaon which is really good. Alex Smith might not be that quarterback that always throw for a lot of yards and touchdowns each game but he is that quarterback that barely maybe not even at all turn the ball over. I expect him this year as well not to turn the ball over. He is projected to be ranked 17th going into this season because his touchdown and passing yards stats aren't high. But it really doesn't matter because he's got a good defense and has a chance to win the AFC West once again this year.
16. Carson Palmer (Arizona Cardinals)
Carson Palmer is slowly realizing that he needs to win a Super Bowl. It's going to be a dogfight between the Seahawks and the Cardinals to see who's going to win the NFC West. Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald need to talk to each other in the locker room and Larry should say something to Carson like "Carson we have been in the league for a very long time. We both got drafted in the same year and we still haven't won a Super Bowl yet. Let's try to win it before we set off into the sunset." I expect Carson to be motivated to catch the Vince Lombardi Trophy and I also expect Carson to be projected to be ranked 16th going into this season really cause of the motivation of him getting a ring for once.
