Joe Bambraugh is known as one of the most popular Birdland Whaler to ever live. Joe Bambraugh helped start the Birdland Whalers back in 2013 and he is really helped make that team turn into a dynasty. Joe Bambraugh went to Chartiers Valley throughout his whole childhood and graduated in 2016.
Joe is the kind of person that really likes hockey and doesn't mind expressing his own opinions even if everyone doesn't like it. Joe is a big time Philadelphia Flyers fan and a big time Donald Trump supporter. You see what Joe's main goal in playing in the Chartiers Valley Street Hockey League was to play hockey with other kids around the Chartiers Valley School District area and have fun. Let me tell you he's had a lot of fun and is a big reason why other teams are forming in the CVSHL.
Joe was the type of the player that you could not ignore if you were on the same playing surface with him. He was known for hitting players and scoring goals when you least expected it. Joe would do anything he can to help the Birdland Whalers. He would constantly talk to other kids around the school district to see if they were interested in playing. Joe played four seasons with the Birdland Whalers (2013-2017). He was the assistant captain for the Whalers in his first three seasons and was the captain in his last season with the Whalers as he would eventually retire on July 9th 2017.
In Joe's career in Birdland he has played every single game and has scored a total of 19 goals. Joe was known for trash talking other players in the league on Twitter like Jake Malacki, Pat McGough and Sean McCrerey. Joe has done a lot to make Meadowlark Park look better. This past Spring Joe went to talk to Scott Township Officials to see if they could add more benches, replace the nets, and fix the fencing around the court. Joe was able to convince the officials to fix Meadowlark Park and they did. If you drive past Meadowlark Park now you can see the new nets, the new benches and the new fencing around the park.
A lot of people actually think that Joe lives in Birdland but he doesn't. He actually lives very close to one of the most popular churches in Our Lady Of Grace. Joe has made sure that the Birdland Whalers will stick around for a long time by adding a big player to the franchise. That player is Trevor Colberg. Joe happens to be neighbors with Trevor Colberg and one time Joe asked Trevor if he wanted to play for the Whalers since he plays hockey for Chartiers Valley and Trevor said yes. Trevor has been on the Whalers since he was in seventh grade which means he joined the team in the 2014-15 season. Trevor is going to be a sophomore this fall and he is going to be on the Whalers for his fourth season. Once Trevor retires he would play with the Whalers for a grand total of seven years.
The great part is that Trevor has three younger brothers who will continue to make the Birdland Whalers great. Joe Bambraugh has done everything he has possibly can to make the Birdland Whalers one of the most dynamic CVSHL franchises to ever be founded. Joe is currently the CVSHL Commisioner.
