Our Boy JE Is Out

Yesterday the New England Patriots were playing the Detroit Lions in Ford Field in Detroit. For both the Lions and the Patriots this was their third preseason game of the season. During the first quarter yesterday Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was trying to change directions after he caught the football and while he was trying to change directions he suffered a knee injury and had to get carted off the field and into the locker room.

After looking at multiple MRI results the doctors and Edelman saw that he had torn his ACL and is out for the season. Julian has made a lot of big time important plays with the Patriots like this catch he made against the Falcons in Super Bowl 51.

Even though Edelman is out for the season this does not hurt the Patriots in winning the AFC East, the AFC crown and does not hurt them in trying to win a Super Bowl again. They still have Danny Amendola who can make plays and the Patriots have their star tight end Rob Gronkowski who is coming back healthy this season after getting injured in Week 12 against the Jets last year and having to miss the rest of the season. The other Patriot wide receivers Matthew Slater, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell can produce as well. The big key piece however the Patriots added this offseason was Brandin Cooks that they got during a trade with the New Orleans Saints. The addition of Cooks makes the Patriots wide receiving core one of the best in the NFL right now. In each of the last two seasons Cooks had over 1,000 receiving yards with the Saints.

The defense for the Patriots is still looking and they have a runing back who is ready to take the next step in James White. He'll be looking to make a bigger impact than he did last season as LeGarrette Blount left New England this offseason and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. What's really great about the Patriots is that their is always somebody from the bench that is ready to step up and make a difference for this team whether if it's on offense, defense or on the special teams. Pretty soon the Patriots will be considered AMERICA'S TEAM!
