A Little Protest We See

On Wednesday February 21st 2018 students from the Chartiers Valley School High School decided to walk out of school for a little bit at noon to honor those who died in the school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Some of those students who attended to the walkout on Wednesday wanted to get together and protest school violence and protest about how students and people who cannot protect themselves when a shooting happens. Lots of kids didn’t show up to 6th period and teachers would probably wondering where their students were. All the students that were participating in the protest all met up in front of the auditorium and walked across the pathway outside. It’s the same pathway the students walk on to get to lunch. They all then walked to the football field where some kids were speaking out of why this rally is important and what it really meant. There was some people in the rally who were just there just to skip class and didn’t really know what was going or what the people were protesting about. Some students sat on the bleachers outside for the rest of the day after the protest was over and didn’t think of going back into the building and finish the rest of their classes. They maybe got written up. It was pretty cool however to see how the security guards, the assistant principal and the principal let the protest run as it should and not try to shut it down. However there was this one school in Texas. “Needville Independent School District” that would suspend their students for three days if they walked out of school on Wednesday. There were teachers at the protest making sure that there wasn’t going to be violence or anything at the protest and luckily there was not. Some students were trying to walk to Walmart and other stores at the Raceway Plaza Center after the protest ended but Officer Oslick didn’t allow those people trying to walk away from school. Their plans to be other walkouts later this school year especially on April 20th which is the anniversary of the Columbine Shooting Massacre.
