Char Valley Athletes Continuing Athletic Career

Monday March 19th 2018 was a day where five Chartiers Valley seniors will never forget in their lives. Those five seniors on Monday signed their college of intent letter to continue their academic and college career. Students, parents and coaches were in front of the Digital Media Center to see all five athletes continue playing the sport they love. Michael Labbett was one of the students that signed on Monday. He will continue his baseball career at the University of Waynesburg. Waynesburg baseball is classified as a NCAA Division 3 baseball team. Bret Hicks and Anthony Doyle will also attend Waynesburg as they will both play football there. So there are other athletes from CV that will continue their athletic careers at Waynesburg. Labbett will play baseball with Infielder Evan McDaniel who will be a sophomore at Waynesburg next year as he played baseball for Trinity and graduated there in 2017. Trinity is a team that CV is familiar since both teams are in the same section.

Jon Kyle was another CV athlete that signed on Monday as he will be continuing his football career at Saint Vincent College. The Pittsburgh Steelers have Training Camp at Saint Vincent College during the summer so Jon might see some Steelers while he is up there. Saint Vincent College football is classified as a NCAA Division 3 football team. Kyle will be on the same team as QB Mike Navarro who was the quarterback for Central Catholic as he graduated in 2016.

Rachel Rohe signed on Monday as well as she is continuing her lacrosse career at Westminster College. Nate Wood signed to continue his track & field career at Slippery Rock which is a NCAA D2 basketball team and Emily Gillot signed to continue her soccer career at Point Park University. Her friend Tia Horew will join her and play soccer for Point Park as well. It’s nice to see a bunch of kids that I go to school with continue their dreams of playing sports at a high level.
