Robert Lawrence winning the 2015 Boys 3A Soccer WPIAL Championship at Highmark Stadium on Friday November 6th 2015.

Robert Lawrence is a senior athlete at Canon-McMillan high school who has played soccer for the school and bowls for the school. Robert is a WPIAL champion as he won a WPIAL when he played soccer for the Big Macs in his sophomore year.

The sport that Robert is tremendous at is bowling and he had a very fantastic bowling season. Canon-McMillan's Boys Bowling team was 8-2 this season and every team they played was in their section. The section they play in is SOUTHWEST section. Robert's average during all 30 games he bowled in the regular season was 204.53 and it was the highest in the SOUTHWEST section. The highest game he bowled this year was 266. He bowled that high score when he was bowling against Bishop Canevin at AMF Lanes in Noble Manor on January 17th 2018. Robert's highest 3 game series he bowled was 769 which he did that same day against Bishop Canevin. His 3 game series was the highest 3 game series in all of WPIAL bowling this year.

Robert is a left handed bowler and has a sweet spot when he throws his first ball in a frame. He always throws the ball around the second arrow to the left of the lane and throws it so nice smoothly and you can never hear the ball hit the lane unlike some bowlers do in the WPIAL. The way that he keeps balance after throwing every ball is pretty beautiful. His posture seems so perfect too as his left leg is always in the air a second after he throws the ball to maintain his balance.

WPIAL bowling is not a very talked about sport but if the media started talking about this sport more everyone would know who Robert is and he would get the attention that Robby Carmody gets for playing basketball and Phil Jurkovec gets for playing football. When you look at Robert's scores on the WPIAL bowling website you never see him bowl a very a bad game. His scores and averages are consistent each year that he has never really had to be frustrated with himself during an actual match.

He is a very good teammate as he supports all of his bowling teammates and always gives them high fives no matter what their result is in each frame. In the 2018 WPIAL Bowling Boys Team Championship Canon-McMillan finished 9th and Robert bowled a series of 557. In the 2018 WPIAL Bowling Boys Singles Championship Robert was placed fifth out of 116 boys bowlers. He bowled a 630 series that day. In the 2018 Western Pennsylvania Regional Bowling Boys Singles Championship Robert bowled 909 in a 5 game series and finished 16th out of 76 boys bowlers. In the 2018 Western Pennsylvania Regional Bowling Boys Team Championship Canon-McMillan finished 8th and Robert bowled 519 in 3 games.

Robert has had a great bowling season and should get an award congratulating him of having the highest 3 game series during the WPIAL bowling regular season. Throughout this past Fall and Winter Robert participated in the Greater Pittsburgh Youth Bowling League as he participated in a travel league. He bowled for AMF Lanes in Mount Lebanon and had a good season as it was all practice. Robert is a great bowler and hopefully he will continue bowling no matter if it is for fun, for a college team or maybe in the Professional Bowling Association.
