Yeah I Know I Just Heard About This Information Today
So just today I was looking up South Fayette's football roster because I wanted to see who would be on the team for next season since some of there notable athletes will be graduating and not return next season like Noah Plack-Tallerico, Drew Saxton, Rauri Way, Johnny beck and Ray Eldridge.
So I looked up the Lions roster for next season on the website called MaxPreps and there was a name on the roster that was different from the year before but also seemed familiar to me. The name that was different on the Lions roster from the year before is Jamie Diven who is currently a junior this year and will be a senior next year.
Diven went to West Allegheny High School earlier in the year while football season was going on and was on the football team as he played quarterback for the Indians. This season Diven was 16/41 in passing attempts as he threw for 194 yards and threw one interception. West Allegheny used five different quarterbacks this season so throughout games you would notice that West Allegheny would have a different quarterback under center and keep changing it about like every 10-15 offensive plays.
The most statistically productive quarterback for the Indians last season was sophomore Kam Kruze as he was 46/83 in passing attempts, threw for 503 yards, threw for three touchdowns and threw five interceptions. Kruze might be the starter for West Allegheny as he has now had a full year of experience under center.
Diven might be the starter for the South Fayette Lions next season because he is older than the other two players on the Lions trying to be the starting quarterback next year in Henry Lex and Naman Alamada.
I could not tell you why Diven moved to South Fayette but I think it was a good thing that he did. I do not know how much Coach Joe Rossi would want Lex and Alamada to play next season cause I feel he would feel better if he had Diven play since he did come from a good football program in West Allegheny and he will be a senior next year while Lex and Alamada will both be sophomores next year. But we have to remember that Drew Saxton started his sophomore year in 2015 for the Lions and former South Fayette quarterback Brett Brumbaugh started his freshman year in 2011. Drew and Brett would later evolve to be very great quarterbacks at South Fayette.
It looked like Kruze would have been the starter instead of Diven for next football season so it really was good Diven moved because college scout and recruiters would look at Diven more if he starts for South Fayette next year instead of sitting on the bench at West Allegheny. This gives more time for Lex and Alamada to get better before Diven would graduate in 2019.
If you check on the instagram profile called @ethictraining you will see a picture on their profile from March 16th 2018 with a picture of Jamie standing behind a South Fayette Lion logo. The description talked about how Jamie was ethic approved meaning that the training camp approved of the way Jamie performed while he was there. So I know that Jamie transferred sometime from the end of the 2017 WPIAL football season to March 16th 2018.
We will see how Diven does with the Lions as we will see if he will start for the team. The Lions will not play the Indians so we know right off the bat that he would not have to play his former team next season.
