The CVSHL Is Back

The Collier Cargo Shorts defeated the Oak Trees 7-6 yesterday to lead the standings in the 3 game tournament.

December 10th 2017 The Collier Cargo Shorts played against the Oak Trees at the deck hockey rink in Collier and the Shorts defeated the Trees 10-9. That was the last CVSHL game that was played until the league started back up again just yesterday.

There had not been a CVSHL game played in 5 months until yesterday where The Collier Cargo Shorts played The Oak Trees at Meadowlark Park to begin the three game tournament.

The three game tournament is basically like a regular season where each team plays each other 1 time and whichever team has the best record after the 3 games they play will get a bye to the championship round and the second and third place team will face each other in the wild card game while the fourth place team will be eliminated from the playoffs. The four teams that are playing in the tournament are the Cyclones, the Cargo Shorts, the Whalers and the Oak Trees. The Rennerdale Rockets have been dismantled and some of their players have joined different teams. The regular season player statistics will still count from the games played before yesterday but the records for the teams that played their CVSHL games before December 10th 2017 this season will not count for the playoffs. The three game tournament games will be the only games that will count for the 2017-18 CVSHL postseason.

In yesterday's game the Shorts were up 2-0 and they basically dominated most of the game and the Trees started to get something going and the game was tied 6-6. Adam Weiss of the Cargo Shorts would eventually score the game winning goal for the Shorts as they would beat the Trees 7-6. That would be Adam's only goal of the game but it was the most important goal. Also, Chris Vaughn scored 4 goals for the Shorts and Captain Pat McGough and Cam Stevenson both scored 1 goal for the Shorts.

Freshman Timmy McMaster continue to keep scoring goals for the Trees as he scored 3 in yesterday's game as he now leads the league in goals with 15. Bobby McMaster and Ben Cristofano who are both in college scored 1 goal for the Trees yesterday and Hunter Waldern scored 2 goals for the Trees. Trees goalie Gus Deely is now 3-2 this season as both of his losses are against the Cargo Shorts. So it seems like that the Shorts have cracked the code against him. However both of his losses against the Shorts were only by 1 goal. His wins this season were against the Rockets, the Cyclones and the Whalers.

Cargo Shorts goalie Danny Phillips is now 2-1 this season as he moves into second place in the CVSHL with most wins as goalie. When the Shorts defeat the Trees in December Danny started in goal but they took him out and put Cam Stevenson in. After two periods in that game in December the Trees were winning 7-6 and during the 2nd intermission was when the Shorts decided to take Danny out of the game and put Cam in. So since the Shorts were able to come back and win the game in the third period Cam Stevenson got the win in goal and not Danny.

The Cargo Shorts will either play the Cyclones or the Whalers next while the Trees will either play the Cyclones or the Whalers next as well.
