Brandon Marshall Deserves Another Chance

If Brandon Marshall played the whole entire 2017 season I think he would have at least 700 receiving yards with the New York Giants. But because of an ankle injury that happened to him in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers he had to have season ending surgery on his ankle making him miss the rest of the season.

In Marshall's five games with the Giants he had 18 receptions for 154 yards. It's almost been a month since Marshall was released by the Giants on April 19th and he is still a free agent. Marshall visited the Seahawks last week but the Seahawks have not signed him. Former Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis said on the NFL Network TV show "NFL Total Access" that he likes the idea of Marshall on the San Francisco 49ers team.

Marshall is 34 years old and some people say he is not in his prime anymore. I don't care if he is not in his prime anymore Marshall has worked hard enough in his career to keep playing for however long he feels he wants to keep playing. For seven straight seasons, from 2007-13, Brandon Marshall had over 1,000 receiving yards. Marshall was 23-29 years old during those seven straight seasons he posted 1,000 receiving yards. Marshall has a total of eight 1,000 receiving yard seasons as he had 1,502 receiving yards in 2015 when he was on the Jets. The Jets were very good that year as they had a 10-6 record but barely and I mean barely missed the playoffs.

I mean there is no way Marshall can retire from the NFL without playing a single playoff game. Marshall has been a star in this league for a long period of time and it is really not fair that someone as gifted and athletic as him has not had a chance to play in the playoffs. In Marshall's career he has played with average quarterbacks. I'm being serious Marshall has not really had a very good quarterback pass to him except for when he was playing with Eli Manning last season. But Marshall only played with Eli for five games and last season was Eli Manning's worst season he has ever played in the NFL since the Giants record was 3-13. So basically Marshall has not ever played with a quarterback who has played excellent in a season. If you want to say Ryan Fitzpatrick was excellent in 2015 I'll be fine if you say that but Fitzpatrick in his career has always been a back and forth starter and back and forth backup quarterback. You could even say Fitzpatrick has been inconsistent his whole career. Excluding Eli Manning Marshall has played with quarterbacks like Jay Cutler, Chad Henne, Jake Plummer, Kyle Orton and probably other backup quarterbacks so it's not like Marshall was playing with other quarterbacks that improved his game. It was just that Marshall is such a good player that he can play with any quarterback and make his quarterback look good.

Brandon Marshall cannot end his career playing only the first five games last season and not playing the rest of the games. Marshall needs to end a career on a high note and I have belief that another team will want him no matter if he is a starter or a number three wide receiver coming off from the bench.
