Budai And Company Get Revenge
The last time the Carnegie Cyclones played a CVSHL game was on November 26th 2017 when they played the Oak Trees at Meadowlark Park. But it was not until May 19th when the Cyclones got back together and played their first game in the three game tournament or three game regular season. The Cyclones defeated the Trees 8-7 on Saturday at Scott Park. This was the first CVSHL game that was ever played at Scott Park.
In the game Michael Sedlak scored 5 goals for the Cyclones, PJ Massella scored 2 goals for the Cyclones and AJ Sharp scored 1 goal for the Cyclones. This was Mike's first game with the Cyclones. Since the Rennerdale Rockets have been dismantled all their players have joined other teams like Mike Sedlak. Mike's brother Matt is also on the Cyclones as he made his Cyclones debut on Saturday as well. Other former Rockets players Josh Swimkosky and Chris Lentz have joined the Birdland Whalers. AJ Sharp, goalie for the Birdland Whalers, decided to play one game for the Cyclones and he had success as he scored 1 goal. Freshman Logan Marnik and Kaden Dvorak and Josh Griffith also made their Cyclones debut on Saturday. Griffith played goalie for the Cyclones and got the win as he only gave up 7 goals.
A lot of the regular Cyclones players did not show up due to either being on vacation, resting for the CV playoff baseball game on Tuesday and just scheduled to go to work. The Cyclones feel good knowing that there is more depth to their roster. Cyclones player Tyler Coleman could not play due to going on a fishing trip in Erie, Thomas Vaites was somewhere, Jake Lindow and James Lindow were resting for baseball and Donovan Kinnee was working at Plato's Closet in Bridgeville. Before, Cyclones Captain Nate Budai had a hard time scheduling games with other teams because he did not have many players but now he does. The Cyclones also added Austin Abel to their roster. Abel is really good friends with Cyclones player PJ Massella. So it was not hard for Abel to join the team.
The Trees are now 0-2 in the three game regular season. If the Trees lose to the Whalers in their next and final game of this tournament then they will be eliminated from the playoffs. Trees goalie Gus Deely is 0-2 in the tournament as in both games he only lost by one goal. So it is not that Gus has been playing bad and the Trees are getting blown out it's just when the Trees played the Shorts and Cyclones they only performed one goal better. Former Trees captain Cam Lane is back on the Trees roster as his title on the team is just a player. Trees player Timmy McMaster leads the league in goals with 18. The stats from when the regular season was played in October through December even though the team record from those months do not count into the playoffs now.
The CVSHL is staring to get excited as just before you know it the Wild Card Game and the Championship Series will be played.
