Cavs vs. Warriors Part 4
Well for the fourth consecutive year the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to play against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. It is pretty rare to see the same two teams face each other in a professional sports championship game or series for four straight years.
This is the eighth straight time that LeBron James has played in the NBA Finals as he has represented the Eastern Conference for 8 straight years in a row. This will be LeBron's ninth time overall competing in the NBA Finals. The first time that LeBron played in the NBA Finals was in 2007 when he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers during his first stint with the Cavs and they played the San Antonio Spurs which was a series that the Spurs won. As a matter of fact the Spurs swept the Cavs in that series 4-0. A lot of NBA fans and the media were not really surprised that the Spurs won the series against the Cavs or actually were not surprised at all that the Spurs swept the Cavs in that series. Some people might have said that the Cavs should just be fortunate that made the Finals in 2007 as LeBron was the star on the team and all the other players on that Cavs team were just good enough to play five minutes or so.
Star point guard of the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry, is looking to win his third NBA championship in four years and if he could win another NBA championship during this year's FINALS than he would have the same amount of NBA championships as LeBron James. If the Warriors win the NBA championship this year than perhaps you could say that the Warriors are one step closer to be really called a dynasty. What you got to love about the Warriors is the confidence that they have. After Game 5 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals when the Warriors played the Houston Rockets, Warriors power forward Draymond Green told an ESPN reporter that "We'll be back here for Game 7," indicating that the Warriors would beat the Rockets in Game 6 and force a Game 7. Draymond was absolutely right as the Warriors blowed out the Warriors in Game 6 and eventually go to Houston for Game 7 and win that game to secure a trip to the Finals.
I honestly wonder many people are actually going to watch the Finals this year as there has to be some big time basketball fans in other states besides Ohio and California that have to be sick and tired of watching the same two teams face each other in the Finals for four straight seasons. A lot of people would be fine if just the Cavaliers or just the Warriors would make the Finals for four straight seasons and play against a different opponent each year. But the fact that the same two teams play against each other for four straight seasons has to be kind of annoying for some people and there has to be some people who won't watch it knowing that it feels like there is no other good basketball teams in the NBA.
However to me I don't care if the Cavs play the Warriors in the FINALS for ten straight years in a row because every year I would be watching the games and thinking to myself while I watch the game who is the better or most successful basketball player in the decade of the 2010s and 2020s. Perhaps it is LeBron. Or maybe it's Curry, or heck even Kevin Durant. I will watch the NBA Finals no matter which two teams and I find it cool to myself that I am seeing history right in front of my eyes of the best two teams in basketball during this decade battling against each other.
The cities of Cleveland and San Francisco just keep making money each year while the NBA Finals are being played in their cities so I bet those two cities would not really care if their NBA teams play each other in the FINALS for ten straight years knowing that they'll just keep making money off the games.
A lot of people in the media have said that this might be the worst team that LeBron has ever been a part of while making the playoffs and I could see why people would say that. Once again for the Cavs in order to win this FINALS LeBron James has to be Superman and put up 40 points per game. If at least two other players on the Cavs, besides LeBron James, can put up at least 15 points than the Cavs will be in the game for all the games that are played during the Finals.
Game 1 is tomorrow in Golden State and Oracle Arena is going to explode.
