Joey Porter's Son

Joey Porter Jr. is going to be a senior next school year at North Allegheny and Joey must be very excited for this upcoming football season as he enters next school year as the number one rated 2019 Pennsylvania football recruit according to "247 Sports". Porter Jr. plays cornerback, wide receiver and punt returner for the team.

If you did not know already, Joey Porter Jr.'s dad is Joey Porter, who is the former Pittsburgh Steeler player and is the current outside linebackers coach for the Steelers. I honestly wonder sometimes if Porter Jr. would work out with some of the Steelers players because of the connections his dad has with the players. If Porter Jr. does work out with the Steelers players that would actually be a good thing because he would be exposed to playing against real men whose job is to play football. Perhaps, that's why Porter Jr. is so good because if he is able to handle working out with the Steelers and doing workouts with them then playing against high schoolers, who a lot of them probably won't make the NFL, would be no problem for Porter Jr. whatsoever. Now Porter Jr. missed 3 games in the regular season last season due to an ankle injury so if Porter Jr. would have played in those three games North Allegheny's record could have been better. What you have to like about his dad Joey Porter is that he shows up to all of his son's games and every time he is watching his son play he sits with his stands acting like a normal parent. Porter does however sit in a group with a bunch of parents during games and it is good that Porter can feel comfortable and not have to fear about someone attacking him physically or verbally while he is at his son's games because of all of the other parents at North Allegheny making him feel comfortable. Perhaps some of those neighbors might be living in the same neighborhood or same street as Porter.

What you have to like about Porter Jr. is the speed he has and the way he jukes other players. He jukes the other players so fast and gets away from defenders so fast it looks like he is dancing. Porter is very tall and skinny and has a lot of stamina to run very fast. Porter had 7 interceptions last season and had 7 receptions for 132 yards. Even though Porter Jr. plays wide receiver all the college scouts and recruiters look at the way he plays cornerback because that is his primary position he plays and that's why he is ranked number one by "247 Sports" because of the way he plays as a cornerback. Porter Jr. is not the only son of a Steeler that is making a name for himself at the high school level. The head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, has a son named Dino Tomlin who will also be a senior next school year at Shady Side Academy and he is a football star as he plays wide reciever and is a big time track star at the school. Also, you remember Ryan Clark? Clark was a former safety for the Steelers as he played from 2006-2013. Well, Clark's son Jordan Clark is going to be a senior at his high school next year in Louisiana as well. Jordan is considered a football star in Louisiana as he plays cornerback just like Porter Jr.

The last time North Allegheny won a WPIAL championship in football was in 2012. I believe that one of Porter Jr.'s goals for next season is to win the WPIAL championship as he probably wants a ring for himself. North Allegheny is looking for a new starting quarterback as their quarterback Luke Trueman just graduated. North Allegheny looks like they have two options right now as they could either have Gunnar Fisher or Benjamin Petschke be their starting quarterback. Fisher is going to be a senior next year as he also plays linebacker and Petschke is going to be junior next years as he also plays linebacker as well. Fisher did not play quarterback at all last year and Petschke did not complete a single pass in his two passing attempts in the time he played last year. Perhaps, the North Allegheny Tigers might have a freshman come in to training camp this summer and perform so well in front of the coaches that the coaching staff might have that freshman start. That situation has happened at high schools all around the country.

If Joey Porter wants his North Allegheny Tigers to win a WPIAL championship this is the year he has to get the job done. North A's offense might not be the strongest but their defense is strong and has to show up and help the offense out. A lot of North A's secondary will be seniors next year which is a good sign as well. The Tigers have to play teams such as Butler, Pine-Richland, Central Catholic, Canon McMillan, Hempfield, Mt. Lebanon, Norwin and Seneca Valley. There is only one section in 6A WPIAL football this year which is different after there was two sections in 6A WPIAL football last year. This has to be one of the easiest schedules that North Allegheny has had in the past four years as they do not have to see Kenny White, Phil Jurkovec and the rest of the Pine-Richland Rams that graduated this past school year. Butler, Canon-Mac, Norwin, Hempfield and Seneca Valley are not very strong at all but there is a chance one of these teams can improve a lot when all the media and the fans least expect it. Central Catholic lost their starting quarterback in Troy Fisher who graduated this past school year and their star cornerback who will be a senior next year in Corey Thomas Jr., transferred to Penn Hills in the middle of the school year last year and that's a good sign for North Allegheny.

Joey Porter Jr. already has offers from big time Division 1 FBS football schools like PItt, Penn State, West Virginia, LSU, Arizona State, Maryland and Miami. He'll probably have more offers from big time college schools pretty soon. If Joey Porter Jr. wants to play at Heinz Field next year his Tigers will have to play very hard as this upcoming school year will be Porter Jr.'s last chance to get a WPIAL championship ring for his ring finger on his hand.
