Tim's Next Chapter?

Mike White, high school sports reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, wrote an article yesterday that Tim McConnell, Chartiers Valley Boys' Basketball coach, wants to be the next head coach for the Chartiers Valley Girls' basketball team. Dan Slain, the former girls' basketball coach, resigned late in the school year. Now, Tim's daughter Megan who also plays basketball will be entering her junior year of high school next year. So, perhaps Tim wants the job as the girls' head coach so he can coach his daughter. Tim has already coached his sons T.J. and Matty and since he coached his two sons, why wouldn't he want to coach his only daughter as well.

Besides, Tim wanting the job as girls' head coach, current girls' basketball assistant coach Jordan Burkes wants the job as well. If Burkes gets the job she will be the head coach of two sports teams in the school as she is also the head coach for the girls' lacrosse team. I don't really have to tell you all the accomplishments Tim has accomplished that makes him one of the most successful high school basketball coaches in the WPIAL. But imagine if he did get the job as the head coach for the girls' basketball team. If Tim got the job the expectation would not be just WPIAL championship, the expectation would be state championship.

The CV girls' basketball team already has a lot of talent to begin with and just adding McConnell to be head coach would just actually make things 1,000 times better. Tim's daughter Megan is one of the best point guards in the WPIAL. Lady Colts shooting guard and guard Mackenzie Wagner, who is going to be a senior next year, gets a lot of attention from the media as she has already scored over 1,000 points in her career at Chartiers Valley and she has already verbally committed to play basketball at the Division 1 college level at the Loyola University of Maryland. Lady Colts center Gabriella Legister, who will be a senior next year, has already committed to Kennesaw State University which is also a Division 1 basketball school and she even committed to the school in August 2017 before she started he junior year of high school. Once Gabi attends Kennesaw State in the 2019-20 school years she will be playing with former East Allegheny point guard Amani Johnson. Alexandra Ferrella got more playing time last season and even got better as she has now more experience under her belt as Ferrella will be a senior next year as well. And you cannot forget about Aislin Malcolm who is going to be a freshman next year for the Lady Colts as some people say that Malcolm will be one of the best scorers on the team next year and she has not played a minute of high school basketball yet. Maximum Hoops, a basketball player developmental program in Pittsburgh, tweeted back on July 6th 2015 when Malcolm was a sixth grader about how she already shoots like a senior in high school.

So with all that talent built around McConnell, you know that he will find a way to get all of the players on that team to play the best basketball they have ever played in their lives. Tim might be the secret ingredient for Megan to win more WPIAL championships than both of her brothers as she has one ring and her other brothers T.J. and Matty both have one ring as well.

The Chartiers Valley school board is expected to make a decision later on tonight on who will be the next head coach for the girls' basketball team and it will be interesting to see if Tim will get the job or not. If Tim doesn't get the job we will all wonder if Tim will return coaching for the boys' team or not.
