The Chartiers Valley Colts football team is ready to make some noise this football season. The team knows that they are not the favorites to win their section (Class 5A, Conference 1) as a lot of the media thinks West Allegheny and Upper St. Clair will win the section this season. The fact that the Colts are not the favorites is what is making the whole CV football team work as hard as they can during the offseason and at the start of training camp.

The Colts will have either Griffin Beattie or Socrates Boulis start at quarterback for the Colts this season. Griffin and Boulis had never played quarterback at the varsity level, but they know what it takes to play at the varsity level after watching Colts former QB Reed Bruggeman play quarterback last season.

Seniors Doug Krausa, Hunter Curran, James Lang will lead the the offensive line for the Colts and junior Jayden Davis will most likely start at offensive tackle as well for the Colts. Senior Troy Donofrio will lead the secondary for the Colts as this will be his third straight season starting on defense as he will play safety. Sean Banas and Connor Barrett will be the lead linebackers for the Colts this season. Banas did not play linebacker last year on defense; he played defensive end last year. Senior wide receiver and safety JT Allen III will not return to the Colts this season as he has moved away and will play his senior year of football, at the school he attended before he went to CV, Patriot High School in Virginia. Ty Thomas missed the whole football season last year due to an injury. Ty was upset that he could not play last season, but he is going to give it his all this year and go out with a bang as he will play running back and linebacker this season.

Some guys who you did not see start last season who will get more playing time this season are players such as Thomas Heckroth, John Riley and Jordan Demus. What that the Colts are excited about is that they have bigger guys on the team who will be playing football this year in Hunter Richie, Patrick McGough and Nathan Kraemer. These three players will be seniors and these three did not play football at Chartiers Valley last season. Other players that joined the team this season that were not on the team last season are Zac Kehren, Mason Copeland, Anthony Mackey, Brayden Reynolds and others. Brayden also plays basketball for the Boys' varsity team. The Colts will have a new kicker this year in Adam Weiss. Last year Griffin Beattie was the varsity kicker; but now with Weiss on the team, Griffin does not have to focus on kicking anymore and can just focus on working on his quarterback skills.

The Colts will have to play teams in their section such as Upper St.Clair, West Allegheny, Moon, Baldwin, Peters Township, Woodland Hills and Bethel Park. CV is familiar with all of the teams in their section except Bethel Park. The Colts have not made the playoffs since 2015 and want to get back into the playoffs this season. The Colts' past two seasons were not that good and some people even questioned their coaching staff. The Colts are thinking about a WPIAL championship and there are not many people paying attention to them right now; but as I am typing this article, I can tell you right now they are working their butts off on the Chartiers Valley football field trying to be the best football team in the WPIAL right now.
