Before any of you read the rest of this article, I want all of you to know that the article I wrote about is not real at all. My yearbook teacher wanted us to write a fake article in order for us to learn how to write in the LQT format. I am only posting this fake article on my website because well... why not?
Chartiers Valley’s Basketball Star Gets Rewarded
Written By: BY Hilton
Joe Pipilo’s stardom is rising increasing. The 6’2’’, 176 lb. senior is ready to play his final season of high school basketball at Chartiers Valley High School. Even though the season did not start yet, Joe is still practicing his basketball skills and while he is practicing his skills, college recruiters are noticing him and Joe knows. About a week ago, Joe opened his mailbox and saw a letter that puzzled him. Joe noticed that the letter was from the University of Pittsburgh. “I had no idea why the University of Pittsburgh was mailing me a letter. I did not think my grades were good enough to get into a well-educated school like that,” said Pipilo. Joe then took the letter into his house, took a seat on his couch in the living room, and opened the letter inside. Joe read the letter and he was stunned when he read the letter. “I never read any piece of writing more in depth then the letter I received from Pitt,” said Pipilo.
After Pipilo read the full letter, he went to his room, laid on his bed and started crying. “Receiving the letter that day was the best day of my life,” said Pipilo. Pipilo cried with tears of joy because he just realized that his life changed forever because the University of Pittsburgh offered Joe a full scholarship to play college basketball at the Division 1 level at their school. If any high school athlete was in Pipilo’s situation, they probably would cry as well. When Pipilo told his family that the letter, they were beyond happy. “I always told my son to keep on working on what he loves and Joe loves basketball. Joe would always go down to the Jewish Community Center and practice his basketball skills every day after school. All that hard work he did has finally paid off and I am pretty sure he is stunned,” said Pipilo’s mother.
With Joe receiving this scholarship, he feels comfortable about not having to decide where to go to college now. “There is no doubt that I am going to college at Pitt. I’ll just wait a couple months from now to sign the papers and make it official,” said Pipilo. All Joe will focus on now is to make sure he is passing all of his classes and help his Boys basketball team win a WPIAL championship. “Our team has one goal in mind, and that is to win a WPIAL championship. We did not have a good season last year and we were all upset by it. All the players that were on the team last year, will be on the team again this season. We know how to work together now; so, there is no excuse on not doing well this season and achieving our dream in getting a ring for ourselves,’’ said Pipilo.
The Chartiers Valley Boys basketball team will play teams such as Montour, Thomas Jefferson, Moon, West Mifflin, South Fayette, West Allegheny and Trinity. WPIAL basketball star, Donovan Johnson, is entering his junior year of high school and transferred from Our Lady of Sacred Heart to Moon during the summer. “I don’t care if Donovan Johnson is playing for Moon this season. We’re going to beat them and all the other teams in our section. We cannot let anybody stop us,” said Pipilo. Joe is a hard worker and he is going to give everything he has to make Chartiers Valley Boys basketball great again.
