Claim To Fame: Brian scored 5 extra points and scored the game winning 26 yard field goal to help Peters Township beat Penn-Trafford 38-35 in the second round of the WPIAL 5A football playoffs. Peters Township will play Penn Hills oin the thrid rounf of the WPIAL 5A football playoffs on Friday November 16th.
Questions And Answers
What did you guys do right in the win over Penn-Trafford?
Brian Bruzdewicz: "I think we did a really great job on special teams to get good field position for the offense."
There must have been a lot of pressure on you to kick the game winning field goal. You were able to do it. How did it feel to help your team win the game?
BB: "Obviously it was a great feeling, I love playing with these guys and anything I can do to help us win is awesome."
This is your first year being the field goal kicker and punter for Peters Township. What made you decide to play football in your senior year of high school?
BB: "I wanted to try something else other than soccer and try to excel in it as well."
Besides being a kicker and punter on the football team. You are also a very good soccer player as on October 18th you announced that you were committing to Duquesne to play soccer. What made you choose Duquesne?
BB: "I love the campus and being close to home is a great thing. Also, their biomedical program is top notch."
You must know that former Peters Township soccer player, Luke Kelly, is on the Duquesne University Mens soccer team and is currently a freshman on the team. Are you excited to play soccer with him again.
BB: "I am very excited to get back on the field with Luke. He’s a good friend of mine and I love being around him."
If your team is able to beat Penn Hills on Friday, your team will play in the WPIAL 5A football championship game at Norwin High School. What does your team have to do next week in order to beat Penn Hills?
BB: "We have to be able to limit their key players as they’re a very good team. If we can stop them, I don’t see many people being able to stop our offense."
What is your take on Thomas Melonja, a very good high school basketball player, transferring from Lincoln Park to Peters Township? He might be the key for Peters Township's Boys Basketball team to get into the playoffs.
BB: "He’s a great player and a friend of mine. I know he’ll do great things and hopefully lead us to a title this year!"
Who is the coolest celebrity that you have ever met?
BB: "JuJu Smith-Schuster"
Which school do you think Peters Township has the biggest rivalry against when it comes to sports?
BB: "Canon-McMillan"
What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
BB: "I am a huge science fiction fan."
