Penn Hills Athlete: Daequan Hardy

There are just so many athletes that currently attend Penn Hills High School. Daequan Hardy is one of the many talented athletes that attend Penn Hills High School. Hardy was a star football player on the Penn Hills football team. This WPIAL football season, Hardy had a lot to be grateful for as Penn Hills won both the WPIAL 5A football championship and the PIAA 5A football championship.

The Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State Teams were released on Friday December 28th 2018 and Hardy was selected the Class 5A Player of the Year. The fact that Hardy is known as one of the best football players in the state of Pennsylvania must make Hardy feel like he is on top of the world.

Hardy is known for his play as a defensive back; but, he made many of big plays on offense for Penn Hills, this season. This season, Hardy recorded 37 receptions for 817 yards, rushed for 373 yards and scored 25 touchdowns. Take a closer look at the receiving statistics for Hardy, if you do the math, you can see that Hardy was averaging a little over 22 yards per catch. Like, that's pretty impressive. To make Hardy statistics even better, he also scored 6 2-point conversions during this WPIAL football season. On defense, Hardy recorded 10 interceptions for Penn Hills, this season. It's too bad that Hardy is not in the NFL right now because if he was in the NFL, he would lead the league with his 10 interceptions. Hardy was selected as a First-Team All-Conference Defensive Back and was named to the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette's Fab 22 list.

Hardy has many college offers as according to 247 Sports, he has offers from well-known schools such as Army, Michigan, Michigan State, Navy, Nebraska, Buffalo and Akron. Now, there is a chance that Hardy could play collegiate football with some of his high school football teammates. Back on December 1st 2018, Hardy received an offer from William & Mary. Hardy's quarterback, Hollis Mathis, verbally committed to William & Mary earlier in the month of December. Hardy's other teammate, Dante Cephas, verbally committed to Kent State in the month of September and according to 247 Sports, Hardy received an offer from Kent State. So, be aware if Hardy decides to play college football with his high school teammates.

Daequan Hardy will go down in history as one of the best football players to ever come from Penn Hills. He has the WPIAL and PIAA championship that he had always wanted and now his main focus is to decide where he wants to continue his football career at.
