Chartiers Valley @ Moon 2-1-19 Preview
Tomorrow, the Chartiers Valley Boys varsity basketball team will travel to Moon Area High School to take on The Moon Area Boys varsity basketball team. It's a big section game in WPIAL Class 5A Section 2. With Moon not having lost a game yet, Chartiers Valley is looking to pull off the upset, tomorrow.
The last time these two teams played was on January 8th 2019 as Moon defeated Chartiers Valley by a score of 69-64 at Chartiers Valley. A lot of players on both teams made contributions. In that game Donovan Johnson scored 23 points, Connor Ryan scored 21 points and Jioni Smith scored 13 points for Moon. Jared Goldstrom scored 16 points, Sean Banas scored 14 points, Brayden Reynolds scored 13 points and Joe Pipilo scored 12 points in that loss to Moon. It was a good game to watch as there was a balance of good defense and good offense, which is what every good basketball game consists of.
This game between Chartiers Valley and Moon has to be considered one of the top high school basketball games that will be played tomorrow. Mike White, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette High School Sports Writer, will be at Moon Area High School tomorrow to see if Donovan Johnson can lead Moon to another win. On Tuesday, Johnson scored 28 points against Trinity High School and wants to continue to score big points against a tougher team in Chartiers Valley, tomorrow.
This game will feel like a playoff game as you should expect to see Moon Area's High School gym to be packed tomorrow. The more Chartiers Valley and Moon play each other in basketball, the more heated and intense the rivalry is between these two teams.
Chartiers Valley had a nice win against West Mifflin on Tuesday as senior, Joe Pipilo, scored 25 points in the 77-48 win. Joe looks to continue to scoring big points in tomorrow's game against Moon. Expect this game to be close until the very end.
This 2018-19 Moon Boys varsity basketball team has been nothing but spectacular. Their overall record is 18-0, this season. Last season, Moon's overall record was 18-6. This season, Moon has already has the same amount of wins as they did last season and the postseason has not even started. Moon still has 4 more games to play in the regular season.
Chartiers Valley has lost five consecutive games against Moon and CV would probably do anything at this point to beat them.
