High School Graduate: Brad Perrotte

Brad Perrotte must have enjoyed his senior year of high school at Deer Lakes. This past school year, he was able to see a lot of Deer Lakes sports team accomplish things that they have not done in a while. Perrotte was one of the athletes for Deer Lakes that turned things around in the basketball department this year. Perrotte was able to help the Deer Lakes basketball team capture the WPIAL 3A Section 3 title, get to the WPIAL 3A playoffs and get to the PIAA 3A playoffs. The last time the Deer Lakes Boys basketball team made it to the PIAA playoffs was 1985 and that was the first time the Lancers ever did it. So, the fact that Perrotte helped the Lancers get to the PIAA basketball playoffs for the second time ever in school history was a big deal. This past season, Perrotte averaged over 20 points per game and was named Pittsburgh Post-Gazette WPIAL Class 3A All-Section 3 team. Perrotte not only helped the Lancers reach new success in Boys basketball, but he became a star and more people around the media started to pay attention to him. Perrotte and the rest of the Lancers had to face new teams in their section this season because they were moved to 3A after playing in 4A the previous two seasons. When Perrotte was a freshman in the 2015-16 WPIAL basketball season, Deer Lakes was in 3A and the team didn’t make the playoffs. Another reason why this season was memorable for Perrotte was because of the fact that his team was able to win a WPIAL basketball playoff game. Deer Lakes didn’t make it to the playoffs in Perrotte’s freshman year and Deer Lakes went out in the WPIAL 4A playoffs in the first round in both Perrotte’s sophomore and junior seasons. The Lancers lost to Belle Vernon in the WPIAL playoffs in Perrotte’s sophomore year and they lost to Ambridge in the WPIAL playoffs in Perrotte’s junior year. Saturday February 16th 2019 was probably one of the biggest wins in Perrotte’s basketball career as Deer Lakes defeated Charleroi in the first round of the WPIAL 3A playoffs by a score of 57-47. This was the first ever basketball playoff win for Perrotte in his high school basketball career and he probably couldn’t be any happier. Deer Lakes could not win the second round WPIAL playoff game as they lost to North Catholic by a score of 74-65 and the Lancers gave North Catholic everything that they had. Things got better for Perrotte and the Lancers after their loss to North Catholic as the Lancers won two straight games in the PIAA 3A Boys basketball tournament as they defeated Brookville in the first round and Forest Hills in the second round. However, the Lancers would lose to Sharon in the third round by a score of 68-42. Perrotte and the rest of his teammates learned a lot in the 2018-19 PIAA Boys basketball season as they made memories that will last a lifetime. One of the memories that Perrotte will have for the rest of his life was when he cut down the Deer Lakes basketball net after winning the section championship on February 5th by beating Valley by a score of 71-64. Another memory for him must have been when he autographed towels for little children before a game against Propel Montour. That moment must have made Perrotte feel like a role model for those little children. We will see if Perrotte will play basketball in college because if he does some college team will appreciate having him on the roster.
