CTA's Day 1 of Quarantine With Central Valley's Ameer Dudley

With a lot of WPIAL athletes currently not allowed to go to school because of COVID-19, we wanted to check on how some of the athletes are doing during this pandemic.

Check out Ameer Dudley: Central Valley has a superstar quarterback in Ameer Dudley as he will be a senior next school year, 2020-21. This past PIAA football season, Dudley led his Central Valley Warriors to a WPIAL 3A football title by defeating Aliquippa by a score of 13-12. Dudley also led them to the PIAA 3A championship game in which they lost to Wyoming Area by a score of 21-14. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dudley was ranked 16th in the WPIAL in passing yards in 2019 with 1,938 and was ranked 9th in the WPIAL in passing touchdowns in 2019 with 23. Dudley also plays basketball for Central Valley.

Colleges that have offered Dudley: Just yesterday, Dudley received an offer to play Division 1 football at Duquesne University, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Other colleges such as Central Michigan, Lehigh, William & Mary, Air Force, Bethune-Cookman, and Army West Point have given offers to Dudley.

Questions & Answers:

What have you been doing during this COVID-19 crisis?

Ameer Dudley: "I have just been working out, playing video games, and doing schoolwork."

Your teammate, Myles Walker, received an offer from Duquesne. How cool do you think it is that you both got an offer there?

AD: "It’s not the first time we both got an offer from the same school [both received an offer from Central Michigan], but it’s definitely a blessing to have the chance to play at the next level with one of my closest friends."

Describe to me the football culture at Central Valley.

AD: "Different. At Central Valley, the kids and coaches just have something that other schools just don’t have which makes us all better as a whole and makes us a family no matter what."

After losing in the PIAA championship game last season, what did you learn?

AD: "I learned that it’s not over until it’s over."

What do you think of Central Valley's new section for 2020? You guys will play Avonworth and Ambridge, two teams that were not in your schedule last year.

AD: "I think we’re going to have to step our game up regardless. We lost when it meant the most last year. So, we got to come out different regardless who we play."

When it comes to sports, which school would you say is Central Valley's biggest rival?

AD: "Aliquippa. Hopewell is our “rival”, but Aliquippa is usually our best game year in and year out based around the hype."

Who is your favorite NFL player?

AD: "Lamar Jackson [Quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens], he’s fun to watch."

What is a TV show that you could binge watch for hours?

AD: "All American"

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?

AD: "People would be surprised to know that I love slow music. I listen to slow music before my games like Daniel Caesar and Frank Ocean, rather than hype music."
