Questions & Answers:

What have you been doing during this COVID-19 crisis?

Devin Whitlock: "I have been working out, running the steps, and doing a lot of homework."

As a freshman in 2018-19, you attended Monessen and played football and basketball. You transferred to Belle Vernon in May of your freshman year. This school year, 2019-20, you continued to play football and basketball at Belle Vernon. Tell me how was the adjustment of switching schools.

DW: "The adjustment was good. When I got there, everyone treated me like I already been there for years."

So, what's it like being a multi-sport athlete?

DW: "It’s a lot of hard work and dedication. If you don’t do what you need to do, then it can be over in a second."

As of right now, would you rather see yourself playing football or basketball in college?

DW: "As of right now I would like to play football or basketball at the next level."

This school year, your Belle Vernon football and basketball teams both made it to the WPIAL championship title game. Unfortunately, both of those title games ended in losses. What do you think your teams learned after those losses?

DW: "I think we learned that nothing is given to you and everything is earned. Also, we learned to be the best you have to beat the best."

When it comes to sports, who would you say is Belle Vernon's biggest rivalry?

DW: "Thomas Jefferson"

What has been your favorite high school memory so far?

DW: "I would say either the football game against South Fayette [in 2019] to make it to Heinz Field or the basketball game against Lancaster Catholic in the state playoffs [in 2020] when we went into four overtimes."

Tell me someone who has impacted your life.

DW: "My brother impacted my life tremendously by pushing me to be the best I can and never letting me give up on my self."

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?

DW: "I played in the WPIAL playoffs and championship with a broken hand."
