Check out Dawson Snyder: Dawson, a wide receiver and defensive back on Moon's football team helped Moon to the WPIAL 5A football playoffs in 2019. 2019 was the first year Moon football made the playoffs since 2014. Dawson set a school record at Moon for most receptions in a single season as he had 51 in 2019. Also, Dawson was named on the 2019 Big 56 - Class 5A Allegheny Eight All-Conference - 2nd Team Defensive Back. 2020 will be the second straight season that Snyder will be one of the team captains for Moon's football team. He hopes he can play football at the collegiate level as he just simply loves the game of football.
Questions & Answers:
Before the 2019 season, Moon football had not been to the WPIAL playoffs since 2014. You helped change that this past year as Moon got into the playoffs and defeated Franklin Regional in the first round. What did your team do right this past season?
Dawson Snyder: "We played as a team. We trusted each other and the process which was a key factor in our success."
Even though your team's season ended with a loss against Peters Township in the second round, do you think your team will have more experience going into the 2020 season?
DS: "Yes. I feel like that game was a great learning experience for our team. That game reminds us that we have to work harder. We never want to feel that feeling ever again."
You had 51 receptions this past season at Moon. It was the single season reception record at Moon. How great did it feel to break the school record for single season receptions?
DS: "It was awesome. Breaking records held by very reputable people before me is very surreal to me."
What have you been doing during this COVID-19 crisis?
DS: "Sleeping, eating, homework, and working out."
As a wide receiver and defensive back, what do you do to improve your game?
DS: "I love speed and footwork drills. Also, eating right and staying hydrated is essential."
Your section will be a little different next year with South Fayette joining. Also, teams such as Baldwin, Chartiers Valley, and Woodland Hills left your section. How do you think your team will adjust next season to playing in this new section with not that many teams?
DS: "I feel like we will be a dominant team in our section. I enjoy seeing new and different competition."
If you had to choose another WPIAL football player to play at Moon next year, who would you choose?
DS: "Derrick Davis [2021 RB/S at Gateway] He’s a baller."
What TV show could you binge watch for hours?
DS: "All American"
Tell me that something that people would be surprised to know about you.
DS: "I don't like chocolate."
