Questions & Answers:

What have you been doing during this COVID-19 crisis?

Cole Weightman: "Truthfully, resting..lol. With football going into wrestling it's a tear on your body. But the main thing is to be with my family. With all the running around we do, it is hard to get everyone he together."

Your football team lost twice in 2019 with a 10-2 overall record. Both of those losses were against Thomas Jefferson as one of those losses were in the WPIAL 4A football championship game. What did your team learn after losing in that championship game?

CW: "I think we learned what it takes to get there, what it takes to be a champion. It starts now. Offseason is key. Get stronger and smarter."

Belle Vernon's football team has not defeated Thomas Jefferson since your graduating class (Class of 2022) entered high school [0-3 record]. What do you think your team needs to do to beat them? Honestly, they might be the only team in your way of a WPIAL football championship.

CW: They are a great program, they believe in there system. We as Belle Vernon Area need to believe we can compete with them, they put there pants on just like us one leg at a time!!!"

How good did it feel to win the WPIAL 3A Wrestling championship in the 220 lb. weight class?

CW: "It felt great, a lot of people forgot about me."

What would you say are some of your strengths and weaknesses on the wrestling mat?

CW: "My weakness is sometimes being to aggressive and trying to score and pin every kid. My strengths are I'm a hard worker and I have a motor."

Would you rather see yourself having a collegiate career in football or wrestling?

CW: Truthfully, I would love to try and do both!! I love each sport equally. That means whatever sport I'm playing, is my favorite at that time.

Ok, who would you say is your favorite wrestler and NFL player?

CW: "Kyle Dake is my favorite wrestler and TJ Watt is my favorite NFL player."

Did any of your family members wrestle or play football? CW: "My dad. He also played at Belle Vernon. He was the quarterback and linebacker on the WPIAL championship team in 1995. He went to West Virginia for college and played baseball there."

What is one of your favorite Easter memories that you have?

CW: "Every Easter is great! We always have dinner at my nanna's with my family and get to praise Jesus!!"

Tell me that something that people would be surprised to know about you.

CW: "I really don't watch sports!"
