Miguel Jackson's Commitment to Liberty University

SOURCE: PittsburghSportsNow

Pine-Richland Defensive End Miguel Jackson will enter his senior season of football in the fall knowing that his college decision is now over. Today, Jackson decided to commit to Liberty University which is an NCAA Division I FBS independent school. Back on June 17, 2020, Jackson had created a list of "Top 9" schools that he wanted to play college football at.

With this list being irrelevant now, Jackson can now focus on his senior season of football knowing that a burden is off his shoulder that his college decision is now made.

"It feels great [that I have now made my decision]. Now I can focus on the season and go compete for the state title," Jackson said.

Josh Aldridge, Liberty's Assistant and Defensive Line coach, recruited Jackson back on June 11, 2020. Josh is probably happy with himself knowing that he was able to recruit a 2x All-Conference, 2x All-State, and 3-star Defensive End in Jackson.

Jackson knew he felt that Liberty was the best for him compared to the other eight schools on his "Top 9 List" as he enjoyed his visit to the school.

"The football program [at Liberty] has really nice facilities and the campus was clean with updated buildings. There is also a nice town nearby," Jackson said.

For Jackson, he is not the only WPIAL football recruit from the Class of 2021 that will attend Liberty University in Fall 2021... Jackson's current high school football teammate Harrison Hayes verbally committed to Liberty back on April 14, 2020. Hayes plays both Tackle and Defensive End for the Rams. Jackson is really excited to play college football for four more years with his partner in crime in Harrison Hayes.

"It will be great [playing with Hayes for four more years in college]! I've known him since eighth grade and he’s like a brother to me," Jackson said.

The other WPIAL football recruit from the Class of 2021 that will play with Jackson and Hayes at Liberty is Montour Wide Receiver and Cornerback Jaiden Hill. Jaiden committed to Liberty on Father's Day which was back on June 21, 2020.

For Jackson, he is undecided as of now on what he wants to major in at college, but he is thinking about leaning towards Sports Management. Jackson has a lot of time to decide a major.

Jackson being recruited by many Division I football schools might not surprise some people due to the fact that he has many relatives that play or have played college football.

"My older brother played football at Clarion University. My cousin played at Slippery Rock University and I have another cousin that currently plays football at Ball State University," Jackson said.

For the rest of the Summer, Jackson will focus on getting better as he knows that him and his Rams have one goal for the 2020 WPIAL and PIAA football season.

"Our goal as a team is to win the State Championship!", Jackson said.

Will Jackson and the rest of the Rams be able to accomplish this goal? This season, go to Pine-Richland football games and you will find your answer.
